Situation: The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) is the professional association of dentists specializing in tooth restoration and replacement. When first searching for a Web developer, ACP was maintaining a site that was outdated and unorganized. Overall, the site was not working to its potential.

Objective: ACP paired up Americaneagle.com for a major redesign and enhancement of their Web site. They were looking to provide resources to three main audiences with their Web site: members, dental professionals, and the general public. ACP wanted to provide members with a login which would supply them with all the tools necessary to maintain their account. For dental professionals, ACP was looking to provide resources regarding membership and contributing to the organziation. In addition, ACP's goal was for the site to serve as resource for the public – educating people about prosthodontoics, procedures, cosmetic dentistry, and more. With the vast amount of content required, ACP needed a site that would be clearly organized and easy to use yet graphically appealing.

Solution: To achieve ACP's goals, Americaneagle.com focused on the following elements:

Customized Graphical Layout: The new ACP Web site design was created to be clean, modern, and uncluttered. Indeed, the homepage is filled with design elements that add to the site’s appealing look. Some of the many key elements include: an image slideshow, rounded edges, a consistent color scheme, and more. All these elements fit together to create a professional overall look and feel.

Intuitive Navigation System: Americaneagle.com implemented a comprehensive navigation system on ACP’s Web site that allows users to go to almost any section of the Web site with one click. The site navigation was constructed to be straight-forward by including clear side navigation headings. Furthermore, breadcrumbs allow users to easily see where they are within the site.

Advanced Search Tools: ACP’s Web site was enhanced to contain easy to use search tools that allow members to quickly and easily locate the information they need. The “Find a Prosthodontist” tool on the site, for example, allows patients to use drop-down menus to search for a prosthodontist by state or procedure. Furthermore, members can locate events and meetings by using the advanced search filters found on the site, making the search process both simple and efficient.

Secure Member Login: In order to accommodate member needs, Americaneagle.com worked with ACP to implement a secure member login onto the site. Upon logging in, members have access to an account summary, billing and personal information, as well as the ability to edit their communication preferences. As an added option, the Web site also has a customized dentist template program which allows members to apply to build their own Web site via www.prosthodontics.org. This program features the ability for members to upload pictures, enter their location, phone numbers, FAQ’s, procedures, and their specializations.

Content Management System: ACP’s new content-rich site also features a built-in content management system that allows designated ACP staff members to control nearly all of the pages of the site with privilege-based admin access. This entitles only selected staff members to edit and/or change specified portions of the Web site, providing security and peace of mind.


Biography Snapshot:
